An enthusiastic meeting at The Bear, on the 3rd June, with anticipation for the following Sunday, with our Concours pending.
A fine evening to talk about and look at the cars, with an exodus to the bar as the evening wore on. Several of us leaving quite late. Always a social time, so if you have wondered about coming, do join us.
Concours at Hill House
Ten entries and several non-combatants, gathered around the lawns in front of Hill House, home of Paul and Barbara Seagrave. These two, did us proud with their preparations, gazebos and an endless supply of drinks, all day. Grass was mown for a super rural setting with a Georgian House as a back drop. Beyond, in an adjacent field, was a pedal Go-kart track, which reduced the energies of younger members of the pack.
The sun shone, the sun shone and the sun shone. Picnics were everywhere, during which time, Paul and Adrian were doing their bit, judging. They used the Club standard system, devised I believe between Phil Clark and Harriet Shannon, with itemised forms and records of points lost or gained.
Paul did the outsides, whilst Adrian did the interiors. Woe betide, those who left bits of rubbish, sweet papers etc., in the glove compartments. Serious competitors, strip the car clear of everything that was not in it, when it left the factory. I heard that there were one or two guilty of this. Of course, a Club Badge is always worth a point.
There were three Classes and winners were as follows :-
Air Cooled.
Warwick Ormond 911 Carrera 143 points
Rob Bird 911 Turbo le 140
Barry Birch 911 2.7 135

In addition to prizes, bottles of wine, key rings etc., we were also pleased to receive extra gifts for the winners of each Class, from the Centre Principal of Sutton Coldfield OPC, where we shall be meeting in August. So if you won one of these, you will have an opportunity to thank him in person. As the afternoon wore on, with many chairs provided, groups continued to "˜party' and generally enjoy the day. Thank you to Paul and Barbara, for looking after us so well and providing a "˜Georgeous' setting.
Forthcoming Attractions.

This is our Autumn Run Out and not to be missed. Give your cars a good breather, perhaps before the winter lay off. I know it is a long day but with a well organised tour, it is a fun day to be looked forward to. If you received Forms at our July meeting or elsewhere, please send them to Colin if you have not done so already. If this goes well, perhaps we will sort out a WOTY for next year.
October 19th "" A Charity Run from OPC Sutton Coldfield. Again, a late Autumn day of fun, look out for more details. Once again, Sutton are helping us on.
November 14th to 16th
Classic Motor Show at the NEC. We are looking for volunteers for an hour or so.
Warwickshire's emblem is a bear with a staff, so bring your "˜staff' to the Bear at Berkswell.
