Wet Carpets

Hi, now the rain is here again I seem to be getting wet carpets behind the driver and passenger seats, not much but it soaks into the sound proofing under the carpet.
I have checked the drain in the soft top well with a brake cable and the cable runs right through without any issue i.e. no blockage.
Any ideas on where else the water may be getting in? The car is a 1999 2.7 with a new rear window....

Thanks All.

Mike,

Have you checked the drains on both sides at the rear?

If it's had a new window, make sure that's not the source of the leak.

It's something you need to get fixed because there's an electronic control module under one of the seats. Could be expensive if that fails due to water ingress.

Thanks for the comments and yes have checked both sides, it may be that we had a torrential down pour and the volume of water was too much for the small diameter drain. Have checked the window and seems ok, there isn't any wetness on the engine cover.
Will have to see how we go.

Have you also checked the carpet at the bottom of the doors.... some times its the door membrane that has perished due to age..... and water that runs down the windows gets into the car......

Make sure you dry the pasenger side up ASAP... its got the ECU under the seat...

Cheers

Charlie

Back on this subject again.
Well the carpets dried out with the great weather we are having, however washed the car at the weekend and the carpet behind the passenger seat was wet again. The drivers side is ok.
As before have checked the drain holes and they are clear, the bottom of both doors is dry, does anyone have any clues as to where I should be looking for the leak!!
Thanks
Mike

Is all the black foam around the drain holes in good condition? When my roof went pop the flailing arms punctured the foam. Possibly you have a hole in the foam?

I had the exact same problem a couple of months ago, discovered there are in fact two drain holes at each side for the hood the obvious one in the drain channel but a second larger one located next to the black plastic liner inside the hood storage area. The driver side was dry around the edges but passenger side was all wet. I used a curtain wire to rod it out then dried out the carpet and to date have had no further issues.
