Wet Weather Stability

Quick query, particularly for anyone running Conti Sports on 18 inch rims. I have had some slightly unnerving moments in the wet on motorways particularly when changing lanes when the back end of the car shimmies very noticeably sideways. It also happens occasionally when just driving straight ahead on wet motorways, almost as if the back end of the car has been given a shove sideways.

I am used to cars squirming about hitting drainage covers and so on and am careful in the wet especially when accelerating out of corners. Good tread on the fronts and rears.

Absolutely no problems in the dry and can howl around at speed both on track and road in the dry with no "moments".

Is this simply the effect of wider tyres on damp motorways? Has anyone else felt this? If it's common I might have to resort to using the RS 2 for all wet motorway miles.

Thanks, Michael

Maurice,

Narrow bodied on 265's - am checking in to Reading OPC for a full geometry set up. It wasn't the standing water issue. Will make sure I am there to see that they do what they will no doubt charge me through the nose for and let you know if any improvements.

Thanks

Michael

Maurice,

Car has had 4 wheel alignment service by Tognola and is now completely different and rock steady even in the wet. And at a very reasonable £240.
