WEVO Engine Mounts

Fitted some of the above at the weekend.

Car didn't need them - just one of those 'frivolous' purchases I'm afraid. Very pleased with the result though - more interior noise but it's just such a glorious noise.[:D]

Better gearchange. Some reduction of the shift rod rattle I experience when pulling away.

Overall worthwhile I feel.

One of those mods where there's not much to show or say.

Fitting was very straightforwrd. Just a matter of supporting the engine weight. All bolts accessed from above in engine bay. Two bolts hold the mount itself in place against the body, one large bolt goes through the mount into the engine carrier.

I replaced the smaller bolts with new stainless equivalents. I did buy two new engine mount bolts from my OPC but found when I came to fit that the thread on one was damaged so ended up re-using one. Liberal coating of coppergrease on underside of new mountings and on main mount bolt where is passes through the new mount. Threads themselves were lightly oiled. Also copper grease around underside of head on the smaller bolts as stainless and aluminium don't get on. (The WEVO mounts appear to use aluminium for the main body of the mount.)

Main bolt torqued to 54ftlb, smaller ones to approx. 25ftlb. Bolts re-checked after a blast to Husbourne Crawley Autojumble on Sat.

Biggest problem is getting the nuts and spring washers on the bolts that hold the mount in place. Access is tight on one of the bolts on each engine mount. Had to use some initaiative in getting one of the nuts on!

I'll post an installed photo.

Sorry - meant to add:

Mounts bought direct from WEVO in the US. The thing that prompted me to do this was that I have a part of my business in the US and the manager of that facility was making a visit to the UK. So got the mounts mailed to him and he brought them over, saving me some £££.
