Whale tail spoiler

The car is going to get some paint soon and I have got the job of stripping as many bits as possible off it, bumpers and lights are nearly done but to make a good job of it I was going to pull the spoiler apart. Has anyone had a go at this before and do they come apart Ok captive nuts in the foam are they a big problem.
Cheers Barry

Yes I have have, when the car was resprayed I took of the tea tray rubber, The nuts are on bolts fixed into the rubber and having had problems with the nuts seizing on elsewere on similair items on the car I soaked them with plus gas a number of times several days before attempting to undo them. I got every one undone bar two which sheared off. So bought a new one in Germany for €360 so never refitted the old one.

That was what I was scared of I took the spoiler off today sprayed bolts with plus gas but they dont want to move, will try again tomorrow if no good they will have to mask round the spoiler. Did you notice the weight of the spoiler and support. They might have to go though I do like the look of it.

I think they weighed about 15kg, be careful with the lid once they are removed. The weight of the assembly and stays are obviously balanced as without out them the lid flys up really quickly!!!!!! Also you know if you remove the tail you MUST remove the front rubber as well or the car becomes un balanced.

PS good luck, try cleaning the visable part of the thread with some wire wool and then respraying with plus gas

My car only has the front rubber spoiler, there rear was removed before I bought the car. I haven't had any balance problems thus far, the car seems very stable especially at high speed (well 70mph obviously as I don't go any faster[:D])

Don't think that's right buddy, don't use the rear without the front, but front only is ok

I think you are both right and I got it wrong, Porsche tech manual says if you fit the wing you must fit the front.
