Hi everyone.

Need to buy some new shoes for my 964 track car. Haven't bought any 17 inch tyres for a while and not sure what the availability of Toyo 888's is so was wondering what other options come recommended.

Thanks,

Ben.

Hi Ben!!

Long time no hear!

Dunlop slicks and Kumho Ecstas!! [:D]

Corsas unavailable in 17" BTW..... [:(]

Hi Melv,

I know [:)] Been very much under cover this last year for various reasons but managed to wangle an open pit lane day at Brands GP on Jul 11 if anybody fancies joining me, hence new rubber.

Anymore thoughts anyone?? Needs to be track optimized road tyre similar to 888's in case I can't get any.

here we go, DZ03g - similar tyre.

If you want to stick with R888s, I bought mine from Demon Tweeks earlier this year. They were in stock and delivery was very quick. Couldn't find them anywhere cheaper either. According to their website, they're in stock:

Camskills for tyres every time - email them for a better price than the website. I paid £600 delivered for a full set of R888s (admittedly about this time last year !).

The DZ03 although meant to be pretty good is about 50% more expensive than any other tyre around !

As per Mel, lots of people are starting to use the Kumho Ecsta V70 and saying good things about them.

Hi Ben , I recently bought Dunlops to replace 888s on my 964 trackcar.

Here are the details
Dunlop DZ03G Direzza
215/45 x 17 DZ03G R1 compound ( soft ) fronts
255/40 x 17 DZ03G H1 compound ( medium) rears

Mr Tyre Motorsport Birmingham (ask for Dan) ....not particularly cheap , £934 inc carriage .....but hey tyres are important !

Er , no ! I used to use Dunlops ( D01Js ) before the Toyos , they were good and lasted a long time , but I think the D03Gs have less tread depth to start with , they are getting to similar depth as MPSCs .

MPSC dont have sufficient band of useability for UK climate IMHO , and decided to go for Dunlops in conjunction with changing out the RS.......all change !!
