What a difference

Just got home after collecting the 44 from OPC, she was in to have the recall done on the fuel rail, so while she was in today I have had the gearlever and bearing changed, plus the linkage cleaned and greased from front to gearbox.

What a difference to the feel and ease of changing gear, like a new car.

Anyone else had this done?

I don't know. [&:] My Lux had a slightly sloppy gearchange, but it never worried me. After all, there are a lot of bits between the gear lever and 'box on a transaxle car, so I never expected it to be precise. The S2 is fantastic, tighter than our Legacy was when nearly new and way better than my van, so I suspect it has been changed, although there's no record in the history. Either way, a 944 doesn't have to have a loose gearchange if you're prepared to refurb the linkage.

Fuel rail recall codes are AM03 & AK03 this due to possible fuel leakage from fuel rail and hose, I am not sure if this is across the range or specific to the S 16v engine. Cost for the work was a very reasonable £104.16 all inclusive for the gear lever work Cheers Andy

Can you really turn up in a 20 yr old car and take advantage of a recall? Is there any way it could already have been done? Turbos or just na Frenchy? David

David, Not sure if you can just turn up and request recall check, my car was in for a 12,000 mile service last month and thats how the recalls were picked up, OPC informed me that the recalls are elligible throughout the cars life. Regards Andy

I imagine it would be logged when the cars were newer and used the OPC netweork for servicing - I suppose most cars were done then but one or two would slip through.
