What a jump!

Probably like most of you folks, there are a number of web sites that I keep an eye on, more out of interest than anything else.
Anyway one particular site has for sale a 1990 tiptronic cab'. I first saw it advertised at 14k, then dropped to 13,900 and now at an incredible 17,900!
That is some jump!

Recession ending (debatable!) or not its an indication that the demand for 964's is as some have already indicated, on the increase ;)

I don't intend selling either, (but never say never!) although good to know their value is on the increase.

By the way owned my 964, 6 years last month ;)

I am 11 yrs now!! A lot of 964's are getting a bit rough around the edges in my opinion. Good ones seem to stay with their owners for long periods of time which is driving prices up for well sorted cars

During this time I have been very tempted to buy a Ferrari 348 and also thought long and hard about getting a 996 turbo.

Problem is my 964 is a garage queen and I have spent a fortune on it. New southbound interior, genuine cup wheels, cup mirrors, new suspension, new engine tin, 993 big reds,993 rear calipers, new wishbones, new rear lights, powder coating. Coupled with the hours cleaning etc then the car owes me a mint!!! Sadly mine is as clean underneath as it is on top! And has never dripped any oil on my garage floor. I have had the car 11 yrs and done less than 3000 miles! And spent more than 15k on it lol
Hard to justify really but I can't bring myself to part with it.

:)

Had a brief skim thru the car mags in Smiths yesterday..........noticed one of the Porsche ones had an article comparing current/future prices for the 964 and 993. Did not read it word for word (and was not tempted enough by the rest of the mag to buy) but in their opinion things are looking rosy for the 964 after years of living in the shaddow of the 993.

Anyone read it properly?

Are selling prices really on the up now for the more humble 964s? What do us 'experts' think will happen?

I know what I am 'hoping' will happen......[:D]

Rgds, Ade

I read the article in 911 and porscheworld.
I was off over to NI to buy the car in autotrader.
Prices are evening out.
He'd prefer a 964 to a 993.
Err.
Thats it.

Would you sell if they did?

p.s. market price makes no difference to me as I've no intention of selling [:)]

Might this make you think about it though (check out the mileage [;)])?

While it's probably a lot of car for the money, IMHO it looks pretty bland. For me a car has to entice you to want to drive it. I think like most 964 owners, it would have to be something a bit special to make us part company!

Oh gawd you've been talking to Des!!

I know condition of individual cars, mileage, rebuild history, etc are crucial in valuations of 'old' cars.............but do we have a feel for the relative desirability, and hence +/- effect on value across the various 964 model types. Thinking C2 vs C4, manual vs tip, coupe vs cab vs targa and combinatios there of....

I kinda feel C2 manual coupe will be top of the tree in most people's eyes, but how do the others stack up?
