flew down to london from scotland on sat to see 2 boxsters and both were bags of shoite, bird crap, muddy carpets, parking dings, scrubbed alloys, fungus on inside of roof, scratches everywhere, poor leather, damaged trim, shady service histories etc... i've still got 18k burning a hole in my pocket and 2 weeks to get a car,is there any hope for me??

I'm not sure what else to expect for 18k in London or anywhere else - I'm sure they would scrub up quite nicely!

You must have passed several on the way down?

JCB..

18k for a 99t is the going rate,i should know i've looked at every 1 for sale in britain, people think their cars are worth a lot more than they really are in the real world, especially porsche owners! i know because i just sold one, after i dropped the price it sold within 10hrs on the net.

Cars are generally cheaper in the north, so look at ones beyond Birmingham - they are also less likely to have lived a poor existence in London car parks and commutes.

Boxsters do seem to pick up their fair share of marks though - a local bodyshop or good valletting company with machine buffer can work wonders for £200.

Is it just me or is that rather cheap for a V plate 2.7?

Please don't think me rude Gary but for the money you're looking to pay I thought you were well and truly in 2.5 territory.

Still, if people really want to sell........

Good luck - I hope it's what you want. Let us know how you get on. Also hope it's a bit closer to home this time too. [:)]

17.9K sounds like an absolute bargain to me. However, it's all supply and demand. There were about 8 2.7's in last weeks Top Marques (ie in the whole country) and the going rate for a decent spec one was around 24k, although on autotrader.co.uk today, there were 48 below 25k within 10 miles of my E14 postcode (Isle of Dogs) and you could pick up a decent low miler for 21k.

My OPC said to me "if you're selling, put it in the Sunday Times or Top Marques, if you're buying then look in Autotrader". At the end of the day, you've got to buy on condition - an extra grand will be a good investment if it is the difference between a truly well loved car and a cheapo one run without much care.

I'm selling mine privately soon and my OPC (Colchester) said that they can do me the same valet that they would do on any part exchange before sale, for £100. Half a days work including machime polishing to get rid of surface scratches, wheelarch pressure wash, alloy treatment, carpet vax - the biz.

Blimey, that sounds like an excellent deal! Would you mind telling me who you spoke to at Colchester?

Just speak to Mike in Service or Jason Butler in Sales - if the latter mention my name.
