What A Weekend!

Back but oh a few hours from the picturesque Northern Ireland,
and I just wanted to say out what a fantastic weekend it was!

I made it up the Friday run, and it was great to see that Alan's
barter with the weather gods came through a stunner, many
were complaining of sun burn!
A fantastic run and a decent pace throughout the day.
You have to see the Causeway at least once in yer lifetime!

Saturday didn't start all that well, but picked up later in the day.
A great turnout all the same.
Among the rarer machines present were a 964 Speedster,
930SE Flatnose and a 924 Carrera GT - magic!
It's always great to see these machines in the metal,
that's what these shows are all about.

I was surprised to hear people had come from as far
away down as Essex, but after experiancing the run
first hand, it comes as no surprise.

Again I'd like to thank everyone in R27 for organising a great
weekend, Alan & Alyson, Sarah, Donal, Glynis, Steven,
Dessie & everybody else.
Was great to see Barry (again, kudos on the dinner)
and the other Alans again too!

Barry had a wee bit of bother with his 996T so I hope you got
home without further incident.

I'd heartily recommend anyone come for next years tour,
I'll be thinking of our little blast through the back roads of Co. Antrim
for a while to come!

Cheers!
Thomas

Hope everyone else got home safe and sound[:)]

Great time, nice to see all the old faces, from last year, Thanks to all that made it a great 5 days.

Car got me home complete with all new water and no leaks but it took me 3 hours to get the pipe back into a cheap nylon manifold that holds 3 water pipes without any clips , they are just pressed in, very poor design and thats with 3 helper's.

This will be sorted soon with a stainless manifold and 3 pipe clips , so it will never go wrong again, sorry to say its a part made buy an accountant and not a Porsche engineer.

I now know that the car as 2 nylon manifolds,1 on each side so that's 2 I will to make, I wonder if this problem is common on the 996TT or other water cooled modern Porsche's,

only made it up on saturday but what a turnout , over 70 cars i believe ! sorry i had to leave a bit early just as the sun was coming out [:)]

nice to finally meet you barry and talk 930SE's and cheers for the nod to the flatnose thomas [:D]

hopefully i will make it to a few more meets this year.

great show

cheers

johnny

p.s is there a list of who won which prizes in the show& shine etc ?

Hi Guys
What a week we had ... The like of which has never been seen over here in these parts before. This was the biggest Porsche event ever undertaken by any club on these shores. The Drives, The Craic, The Shanes Castle show, The Weather and the Taxidriver Elbow I will never forget.... I really enjoyed the whole week - I was treated like royalty by Alan, Alyson and Sara....! Thanks for the "home measures" of voddy.....[;)]. It was great to get a chance to get down and dirty with Barrys 996T...... BTW Barry discovered we all just dont work at our cars with lumphammers and vise grips over here - we have some specialist tools hiding in our boxes......!

Heres a few snaps of our glorious time in R27 !

Its Alan, Alan and Alan and there were 2 more Alans on the drives .. Confused

Only 1 other 944 on the drives. This is Chris's 944 Lux. I had to get Thomas to bring up Faye later in the week...!

The most expensive load the Strangford ferry ever carried

This is the actual dock 269m long that the ill fated 'Titanic' was built in. Over 30,000 men worked in Harland and Wolfe at this time...!
"It was alright when it left here big man"......!

We stopped at the Marble Arch Caves where Willy Rae's lovely 996 4S attracted some future Porsche customers

Alan goes to interview a few lads from Belgium who drove their 914-6 and 914 all the way through Wales, England and Scotland.. It was taking them 2 weeks ...! Respect....!

I have no pictures of the dinner and disco afterwards.... Which is fare enough for the ceremony was closed with "Donal wheres your Trousers" , "The Transit Van" and "The Drunk Driver".... (Dont tell my missus...)

To all of you who are about these parts - have Porsches locked in heated grages, and have lame excuses about work and other commitments you missed out... We had a lovely couple in a 911 Cab come over from Jersey.. If they can come over and partake then there is no reason why you cant....!

Once again I really enjoyed the week.... and I hope to see you all soon.... We will definately have to return the favour...!

A very big thank you to all R27 members and also our visitors from the Mainland and Ireland for making the event the biggest and best the region has had. A special thanks to Alyson, Sara and Donal who worked tirelessly in the weeks running up to the event as well as everything they did during the five days. Thanks also to Charlie and Jackie, Stephen and Glynis, Desi, Chris and Thomas for their input and not forgetting Alan Seadon, Alan and Susan Laing and Barry and Jean Smith for helping with the drives. It was a great event and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
