So I put some power to to the car today to set the headlights and the window wipers etc

The headlights Work perfectly in manual mode turn the knob and they go up and down with no resistance
So I disconnected the headlight bar from motor and operated the motor by the switch fully up, fully down motor works perfect..going to be easy jobI thought[:)]
With the motor in the down position I re-attached the headlight bar, operated the switch...great up come the lights [:)]
When I try and retract the motor just twitches and does not retract, tried several times setting at the top, bottom and the wrongway around

Up it works
Manually it works
Down no go

Help any ideas[&o]

IMSR there are two separate circuits with separate relays one for up and one for down, maybe one circuit / relay has gone down ?

Had this exact problem with a 928 (basically the same system) replaced relay all fine Jon

it' spins then stops operating the switch it spins and stops again just allways in same direction, Reading every thread about this this it seems the relay is not switching over but could be my dodgy wiring as I replaced the molex connector and cover or a broken wire to relay or relay itself .......more testing tomorrow I guess

Very confusing I checked the output from the connector...all OK Bench checked the relay all good Checked relay terminal on the motor all good So has to be the motor so took it apart all looks perfect Open to ideas[:-]

have you had the fusebox out during the resto? just in case, try reaching under the dash and wiggling the large connectors whilst the lights are switched off (they should close if the issue is a poor connection). you may need the ignition on.

Thanks I'll try that, really strange that I have correct voltages at the motor plug[&o] Unless I have mixed the wires up in the plug

Thinking now I have the concept wrong[] Someone please tell me Does the motor reverse or does it rotate in the same direction for raise and lower, ie the bar rotates over the top?

I think I've fixed it, actually no problem, I was looking for the motor to reverse but it does not http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFQhnyiKKys Found this video [:D]
