Interested to know which carb combinations the 912 use and if anybody can give me a pointer to find some for my New 1641 Mexican .....[:-]

have you bought your 1641? If you haven't you should really consider a 1776 as it has thicker walled barrels & can be built to give you a much better torque curve to suit the weight of a camper.

For any advice on motors give Darren a call @ aircooled performance http://www.aircooled-performance.co.uk/ . He builds some of the best motors out there.

Thanks James ,, yes have had the 1641 fitted, it's brand new factory "Mexican" there was no 1776 option with the new factory just the big bore 1641 pistons and barrels. I was advised that the Mexican are better than taking a chance with a Remtec or other rebuilds manufactured lumps. Just trying to source a pair of Webber 40's now ...

Give Darren a call about the carbs ..... he'll be able to help you. Otherwise here are some useful links for you:

I assume you already know about www.volkszone.co.uk ? ( some people love the forum, others hate it)

Des, does it already have twin carbs? If not: it will need a conversion kit (a simple twin inlet air/fuel manifold) and possibly an electric fuel pump too. I fitted an electric pump from a Rover to my Cal Look Beetle and blocked off the opening for the mechanical pump. These engines benefit from a 009 distributor and sometimes a heater jacket for the manifold immediately under the carb to aid winter idling. Key to mainenance is oil level and changes: the engines are unforgiving with oil starvation and sieze easily.
