What could happen if i...?

Well..to be honest..i already did it..there was no pressure or anything left in my air con so i just removed the air con "radiator" last night because as i already mentioned in a previous post it just kept falling down..i'm not sure if there's some mounts or support bars missing or what..the fact is that i'll take the front end to bits after Ragley Hall anyway to sort some things out and invent some kind of a thing to hold it in place..but until then i'd prefer to drive a car that doesn't have a loose radiator hanging around..

So what i'm trying to find out is if anyone has any idea what could happen if i just leave it like that for time being? Could it cause any problems and could it in any way affect engine cooling system?

I suppose the seals could well be shot if you leave it too long as they will not be getting any lubrication. Make sure you block the pipes to stop any crud getting in there but I'm pretty sure it won't affect the engine cooling - totally seperate systems

Will do..the only thing i need to figure out before Ragley now - why is the engine getting warm/hot a lot faster then it did before changing the radiator..it only takes a few miles to get to 1st stripe..and another few miles to get to half way..that's when i'm not sitting in traffic..will take a little test drive on motorway today to see what happens..at least i've got quite a few spare bits in attic(thermostats, temperature switches, antifreeze filler caps etc) to go around with..the only thing i'm missing is a good thermostat rubber seal..i hope it's not gonna be too much from OPC..

sounds like either you are using a thermostat with the wrong temperature rating or the thermostat is letting by . I can thrash mine to work and it never shifts off the lowest bar ever no matter how hot the engine gets. Mind you I do have twin electric fans that sound like a helecopter when they go off lol.

Have you checked the temperature setting of the thermostat in a pan of boiling water on the stove ? Its got to be something really obvious when you find it

The receiver/drier of the air-con will have to be replaced after the system is empty for some time, especially if the condenser is removed (or there is any other break in the pipework) that could allow moisture in.

Warming up fast is a good thing, though as Peanut says 944s normally don't sit at the middle - they do usually get to the middle before the full fan speed kicks in and then they come back down again, but normally you need to have very little air flow through the rad to get to that stage.
