What do we think of this?

wow that's a lot of work and cost with little chance of a return for it?? it looks straight enough although I wonder how well the 968 wings were fitted to the original 944 inners? I notice the header tank looks a bitch to get too, having said all that it does look the part and may make an interesting project for someone.

I wanted to post a link to the other one on piston heads, but its gone i think. Before the bloke put the Martini stripes on it i thought it looked o.k. Did anyone see it , it started at 2800 I think and he reduced it to 2500 as he couldnt sell it for 2800. the car was a bit pimped for me but it was a very clever job with the 928 rear end kit and custom front lights etc. I did definately admire the work even though it wasnt for me. The car was very much like the one youve posted but with a blue custom interior and based on a 2.7 ?

I wouldnt buy either of them i'm too old for 'pimped cars' :p but as you say these sort of conversions cost far more than the selling price. I do wonder though why folk would do it if they arent going to keep the car.

Cheers Mas

Worth it for the parts, possibly. Wheels aren't included in the driveaway price....[&:]

Is it just me, or are the headlights completely wrong? They look fixed, yet the wings are supposed to be genuine.

now that you mention it Paul they do look a little raised when compared to other geniune 968's on PH

I think they are fixed 993 lights, I have seen a few genuine 968s do this mod.

If the panels had been fibreglass it would make an excellent basis for a track car and I would have been interested. There's a heck of a lot of money gone into that, even changed out the square dash for an oval one, stil doesn't look quite right to me though [&:]

Assuming the chassis underneath is sound it looks like an ideal candidate for a v8 transplant. If you're going to build something different then you may as well go the whole hog!

I'm pretty sure that car belongs to a regular poster on this forum. If it's the car I think it is I had a quick look at it last year when it was still in the 'build' stage.

I'll let said member out himself though so he can choose whether to answer the questions this car has generated or not.

Sorry i think its [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]

I wouldn't be as unkind as Mark but am of the opinion "Why bother?". It is very much a sheep in wolfs clothing which IMHO is the worst combination.

I agree with Peter that it is obviously a lot of work for no return but it is priced sensibly to sell. Subject to the condition of the bits it is much less than the sum of the parts and may well be bought to break. Nice seat.

Odd thing to do; a 944 has a more memorable look, nobody other than petrolheads knows what a 968 is, and most petrolheads would laugh at the fakery.

Still there might be someone out there who lusts after a yellow 968 but only has 2 grand, plus
insurance is cheaper and its lighter than a 968. well, it was originally...
