What do you think?

My father has just bought a Porsche Targa 996 2005 with auto gearbox. It's black with split rims, side skirts, what I believe to be sports tip on the exhaust. The interior is natural brown leather; there is leather on every conceivable place including the coat hooks and mirror adjusters. It also has Bose kit, Phone and Sat nav. With 33,000 miles on the clock and only one owner how much would you expect to pay for it?

I would say £40 <£45k but am intrigued it's a 996, because:

- it's got brown leather interior - I thought that was 997 onwards?
- I think they stopped selling it here in 2004 so it would be a MY2004 but 2005 reg'd. Is this a C16 car?

edited: ah, 'natural brown' - do you mean savannah? definitely closer to £42k.

Hello the car was described as having Natural Brown leather buy Porsche, I think that it is classed as a C16 because the car was collected from Stuttgart, an I right in thinking this?

And it was around £42k so that's the right price then, and none of you get the car sorry! [;)]

I also meant to ask whether there were any problems to look out for. It was also mentioned that the auto had a lag, this came from some one who has only ever driven Boxsters is this a problem with the Carrera?

C16 means it is a UK Spec Car. Nothing to do with being collected from Stuttgart.

Wasn;t Natural Brown leather a special leather option? Like "Boxster Red" leather was?

If you aren't used to Porsche Tiptronic it can appear to do odd things at first. There are several programs for the 'automatic' mode in the system, and it adapts to conditions and your driving style. For instance, first thing in the morning you will notice that it changes up at higher speed than when the engine is cold. Best bet is to give it a while to get used to what it is doing, and also read the manual which explains some of the characteristics. In 'manual' mode you will get a small amount of lag - don't expect it to be like a DSG gearbox - but the changes should be smooth.

We collected the car today and gosh its amazing!! [:D]

I will try and get some pictures up tomorrow when its light and you guys can tell me what you think of the car.

What are the statistics on the 996 Targa with Tiptronic S gearbox? e.g. 0-60 in and top speed.

Oh and SNDa you are right it is an 04 sorry.

Many thanks

Oliver

42k is certainly more than enough i would say for a 996 04 even at OPC as early 997's are now approaching 45k
