What does this bit do?

Can anyone tell me what the rubber tube visible within the top of the rear o/s wheel arch is for? It looks like a breather pipe. Came across it whilst taking the wheels off for a spruce-up.

Thanks TP - I wondered if it was that, but it is from between the inner wheel arch and the engine and I noticed a damp patch on the ground after a 25 mile drive during a dry spell. I hadn't washed the car recently and the damp patch dispersed during the day.
I am puzzled - the car is running really well right now. First step is to pour water drown the roof drain tube and check for the outlet - if not I'll have to take off the engine cover to investigate from the top...

Found it! It's the overflow from the coolant tank. I think the wet patch on the drive was down to me misjudging the level of the coolant and topping it up when I shouldnt have done - the expansion when hot caused the overflow![:)]
I'll put that one down to 'Lessons Learned'.

That's good Russ, glad to hear.

(Though I'd reply just so as no one thinks you're talking to yourself!) [:D]

Thanks for the company Conrad, although it is not unknown for me to gibber to myself occasionally!! I couldn't find any reference to the overflow in the owner's or workshop manuals. I feel less nervous taking her out for a run now I know what it was.
