Hi,
So a month ago I bought a 2003 Targa, with 127,000 on the clock, in excellent condition. It had a Hartech rebuild including the IMS bearing etc at 80,000 miles. In addition to this I have a complete file of service history and ancillary works totalling £20,000, so the car has been well looked after. My question to the Forum is what is the highest mileage 996 3.6 out there that is in regular use?

I've driven Ted every day no for 3+ years and you're ahead of us on 101000-ish. And you've had Hartech surgery....

Let the engine warm up before going over 4000 revs and the good news is that car should see you out.

My 2002 targa has 116k on the clock. Has never had a rebuild & not had the ims bearing done.

Drove 2,500 miles around Europe this summer & never missed a beat

drive it, enjoy it!

My 2002 Turbo has 124k on the clock, still on the original engine and turbos and still shifts!!! Nothing other than routine maintenance although I did change suspension to PSS10 kit.
Its going to Monza and back this weekend [:)]

Mine has done 122k 3.4 engine and has never had the ims done. Just been for its mot today and has passed with no advisories. Again, I would recommend warming the car up before passing 4000revs. Maintenance kept up with Porsche and independents up until the last few years but all servicing now done by myself thanks to all the knowledge and helpful advice from forum members

Thanks for your replies; the car is going well, however just had to spend a few bob on having new brake lines, having found some corrosion. It's also squeaking a fair bit from OSF wheel - and reading through the forum, this seems to be a common problem. Having now taken the time to actually read all through the history file - which is huge - it seems the car had a M030 suspension kit fitted a few years ago. It's also had a few (well repaired) bumps, no record of any of them in the history though!
