What is everyone doing on this meeting Saturday?

Firstly I hope that everybody is as well as can be expected and is taking good care of themselves and observing the lock down measures.

Many, like Sue and I, have missed being able to get to Sharnbrook to meet up, have a good chat and on a lovely day like today take the time for a nice lunchtime meal out, either at the Vesuvio or somewhere nearby.
Instead today Sue is covering a shift at Isebrook hospital in Wellingborough, one of several she has this week and next. Hopefully she won't be home too late this afternoon.

I have used the several hours to clean and polish the winter wheels off the Macan. As I am a volunteer driver I needed to get them off the car as it's getting too warm and luckily Kwik Fit Northampton swapped them for me last week FOC. I know I am not changing anyone's life today but it has kept me socially distanced, just me, a bunch of cleaning materials and Bowie and Simple Minds blasting out from the stereo in the garage (getting my own back on the neighbours with yappy dogs).

So once again, I hope everyone is well and has any help that they need to get through.

All the best and see you all soon, we hope.
Paul and Sue

Hope you are both very well, Paul and Sue... and thanks for your thoughts.

Well, as everyone else, apart from those facing this pandemic head on, we are doing our best to enjoy the sun, amongst other work to help with the cause - what a nice bonus even though we cannot be enjoying our Porsches in a great group environment... would have been a nice day for our meeting [8D]

Keep well everyone and make the most of all your time together, or indeed, apart if you need to be...see you all soon [:)]

Hi Paul,
i'm glad Sue and you are ok. Not doing much today as I'm oncall and i had to work few times during last night, so a bit sleepy now.
Yesterday, however, I washed the car in my driveway, went to refuel and did the weekly shopping. It's more special now when I jump in the Porsche, so I kind of understand the ones of you who use it as weekend car. Now I will have to wait another week until I drive it again (or eat everything I have in the fridge to have an excuse to do shopping).

Stay safe and I hope to see you all soon.

Manuel

Hi all
I managed to get to drive the Porsche on the last few day to go to work in, which is nice as I brought it for a weekend car, then the weather comes out and we get locked down ??.
We are making the CPAP’s for the hospitals at work and need 10,000 of them to share between the 250 hospitals in the UK. So while F1 has paused, we have put our machines and some staff to good use for a good cause.
And I drive my Porsche when the sun is out. So win-win.
Please take care and do as Boris asks.
Hope to see all all very soon.

Hi All,
Thanks for the post Paul and Sue, and good to hear from you all. Yes, it would have been a lovely day for a drive over from Buckingham to Sharnbrook for a chat in the sun for once. I'm waiting for Euro Car Parts to deliver discs and pads for the Cayman so hopefully I can soon be putting the time to good use. Hope work is going well for Sue, and Paul well done for volunteering.

Steve, it's great to hear you're producing the CPAP's I'm sure they'll be gratefully received. Manuel, it sounds like you're being kept busy!

Due to Myra's medical condition, we've had the letter from the government officially putting her in the extremely vulnerable category, and warning us both not to leave the house if we can possibly avoid it, for 12 weeks. We're currently in our 4th week of isolation.
We're keeping in touch with family and friends via Zoom, House Party, Skype and Microsoft Teams, so learning some new things, difficult to imagine going through this in pre internet times!

Great to hear your news via the forum, keep it coming.

Cheers

Gary & Myra

Hi All,

Happy Easter pleased everyone is ok. I have unfortunately Ruptured my Achilles Tendon (Last Monday) trying to push the car on the drive. Thought I'd move it to stop flat spots on the tyres and pump the tyres up. It was a bad move. I've just returned from a hospital appointment this morning and orthopaedic surgeon happy with my progress. Apparently I have a gap of 1.8cm and under normal circumstances (no Covid) they would have operated. Outcome is the same but recovery time with an op is quicker. Moral of this is don't please push your car. Enjoy your day stay safe see you all soon.

Hi everyone,

Its great to keep in touch and hear everyone’s news. So sorry to hear about your injury though Anthony!

I arrived at Linda’s in my Discovery on the day of the UK lockdown, and have been here ever since. Fortunately I had a small supply of underwear and Linda has a washing machine!

My Porsches are sitting idle at home, no doubt a little dusty, and I can’t wait to get back to see them, clean them and drive them, roof down/ targa top off, and hear the exhaust notes that the Disco diesel can’t quite replicate!

We’re gardening more than anything, but have a project on the go, which, given the emergency that we are facing, I hope I am permitted to share with you. I am adding a link to my new Justgiving page, which tells the full story. Please have a look at it.

Keep safe.
Best wishes.

Hi to all at R10.

Just a week before the shutdown I managed to join a small group of club members on a trip to the Porsche/ Mercedes and Sinsheim museums along with a very special treat to the newly opened Porsche Experience centre at Hockenheim.
Have a look at my brief description and another members short film of the Taycan which we went there to experience! (See Taycan section on the forums)

Hopefully something to cheer all up in these difficult times.

Stay healthy and safe.
Robert

Hi all.

Sadly, Covid-19 and a slight cough early March has led to the postponement of some reconstructive surgery on my ankle ( - tendon replacement and bone realignment ??). Fortunately, I can still walk but my exercise is limited to walking, not running or jogging, which suits the dog!
I feel your pain Anthony!

Cars are clean, but there seems to be an annoying pixie dropping grit / sand on the cars left out overnight and they quickly look in need of another! very disappointed that all the Summer’s planned tours and events like Le Mans Classic are postponed, but it is also very understandable - this is a terrible disease.

Work is also very busy - I deal with distressed corporates, and there are plenty of those at the moment around the world. Still waiting to see what the government does to ease the plight of SMEs with a pile of debt at the end of this crisis. Thankfully, so far I’ve been able to work from home, but doubt that can continue through May/June. I’m actually enjoying not having to commute. ??

Trying to work out how I move the 911 into the house to get the most out of it during lockdown!

See you at our next proper meeting!

Mike
