Please could anyone tell me if they have a simular sound from there car. When the car has been running for 5 mins or longer. If the car is then turned off, after a period of about 20 seconds there is a metalic sound(like a spanner dropping on something metal). The sound appears to be coming from underneath the car, somewhere near the gearbox. It also seems to happen when you shut the door after the engine has been running. It has been happening for some time, but it would put my mind to rest if i knew what it was. Thanks

Your not alone, mine (as did 2 others I was parked near at the Ring a few years back) also made this strange noise. Most noticable when closing the drivers door. One theory was that it may be something to do with the alarm resetting.

I think (although could be wrong) that this a flap that releases the pressure in the cabin when the doors are closed.

Mine makes the same noise, but only when either door is shut.

Standard Sir, they all do that (well my last two did anyway !) It's the flaps in the heater system.

Thank you chaps. It has certainly put my mind at rest.Maybe i can get some sleep at night now!!.
