Hi folks, does anyone know what this cable / sensor - is I feel it’s not stock there is also another sensor stuck onto the underside of the wiper / scuttle panel. Any input appreciated!
The one seen sitting on the air filter has a small clear covered wire coming out the end that goes know where about 3 inches long maybe like an aerial!?

Definitely not original. The black wires with the join looks like they go down, and probably through one of the grommets in the firewall. I would take a look inside around the footwells to see if you can see them emerge.

I will confess upfront that I am guessing here - but have you got or had a phone kit. I remember seeing a booster for signal issues back in the day (90's) that looked like this and being black cable this would fit as well. Also a number of early 996 cars had external antenna fitted to do the same thing as a booster, PGB must have had issues with the early screen antenna systems in some cases. I know Ford used to have issues with there phone kits and boosters and antenna were used (Antenna was always the better solution) Ford also had the heated front screens and the Antenna built in. Remember this was cutting edge in the 90's and 00's As Richard suggests trace the cables back to where they go, but may be towards the radio set up

I would be more concerned with the condition of the pollen filter ;-)
Not seen those cables on mine.
