What sound system have I got? + iPod I/F

Hi all

Feeling a bit dim asking this question having owned the car for over a year - but here goes!

I was reading the post about upgrading the sound system etc and it got me thinking.

I bought my car from an independent non-Porsche specialist (only place I could find the basic spec I wanted!!). He said it had the sound pack - I didn't know what this was but it sounded like a good option to have.

1. Question is how do I know if it has or not? - (its got the CDR 22 head-unit and a 6 stacker in the bonnet)

2. Is it possible to connect an iPod to it an AUX device as opposed to the iTrip (not great quality)?

Any A&G much appreciated.

I think you are in luck - the CDR 22 can use the Denison i-link (ice-link?).
A search on the forum (under the club logo above) will bring up many threads.

Thanks Mark.......had a good trawl and now know a lot more about it.

Is anyone able to tell me how I can check if I have the 'Sound Pack' - whatever that might be?

Many thanks

If you have speakers in a custom encolsure in the door (built in - rather than tacked on after) and an amp above the spare wheel - next to the changer, then you've got it. The other way to check is to look for the code on the sticker under the bonnet (if there) or in the service history book.
I think the code is M490 (but I might be wrong!)

I have the Dension kit fitted in my car, It is expensive and fiddly to fit once installed it is a little hard to find what music you want from the head unit i have given up with trying to find albums from the head unit and now just use the i-pod get the album i want play and dump it in the cradle off you go. I can't explain it in writting so if you want more info call me on 07841 511 592. I can also track down the company i got it from very helpful people.

Phil

If I remember correctly, someone told me if you have the Dension IPod link, you can't have the multi-changer at the same time as they use the same connection.

Thanks one and all.

I've got no speakers in the doors so its pretty clear that it hasn't got the sound pack.

I'll check out that link thanks Scouser.

Cheers
