Hi ... I have been running a 2002 Mod, 996 Carerra Cabriolet ( Guards Red ) for some yrs and am being tempted to replace with a 997 ( Cabriolet -prob White or Guards ) ..... my dilemma is which modle and which generation. I have driven a number of 991's and whilst it is a wonderful car I just cannot get on with the Electronic handbrake ....

Advice from thos ein the know and experience of 997 ownership would be welcomed. ..... Image

991cabs will be out of your 60 k budget anyway but a good gen 1 turbo 997 cab could be well within def worth a look

if you can find one ......getting as rare as spyders though ,but a good bet certainly

currently 6 on porsche locator but all over £60k,some quite a bit more

Certainly if the budget could stretch to a GTS cab (just over £60k) then that has to be first choice. Second choice would be Gen 2 C2/4S of which there a few(!) well under £60k. Third choice Gen 1 Turbo![;)] This time next year, if not sooner, Gen 2 turbos will start appearing sub £60k (sadly![&:])

(Or, whisper this very quietly, how about a new 981S.......[:D])

If the handbrake is the only problem - don't use it! With pdk you don't need it.

My experience of both gen 1 and 2 cars is that they're both fantastic cars. Just get the best you can afford. Prices fall all the time, that's the nature of the regular models so try a few and make your own mind up. FWIW I'd go for a C2S with the right toys. And Guards Red of course.

Good luck with your search.

Or I could borrow your 991 which I am sure is great. ....... I will look at a few and drive a few ..... no rush, "everything comes to those who wait"
