What to do in heavy traffic?

When not moving in heavy traffic/warm weather, is it ok to switch engine off or should the engine remain on to keep cooling running through engine? Engine seems to emit a lot of heat compared to hatchbacks I have owned previously.

Sorry for the silly question, but first porsche experience.
