What Tyre Pressures - S2 Cab - D90's

Hi,

Having had new front tyres fitted recently I thought the car felt a bit heavy at the front and wondered if the fitters hadn't put enough air in - I haven't got a drivers manual (annoyingly - but would love to know where I can get one from ??), so checked under the fuel cap and was amazed to see 36psi front and 44psi rear at the order of Mr Porsche!
With my new found knowledge I went to check / correct all tyres accordingly - I found that my fronts were running 31psi and the rears running only 30psi!!! [8|]
So, I increased to 36 and 44 accordingly and went on a test drive - it's fair to say the car feels rather different and 'on it's toes' but also less surefooted. I went along a fast country A road and on long sweeping bends the front feels too low on grip - a massive increase in understeer. Yes, there is more feel through the steering but I'm not sure now what it shoud really be like / feel like - this is the first time I have checked the pressures since I purchased the car so the tyres must have always been around the 30 mark.

So, is 36psi & 44psi correct for an S2 Cab?

Oh, most importantly I am running standard D90's with 205 55 16 front and 225 50 16 rears.

Cheers,
Chris.

Hi Andrew,

Fronts: Kumho KU31's (New)
Rears: Barum Bravuris (800 miles old) - these were put on by Strasse when I bought the car (not my choice!) - they are a part of the continental group, actually seem ok so far.....

Cheers,
Chris.

I'd agree with Andrew - look at something in the mid 30's all round until you get something you like and the tyres wear evenly.

Hi

FWIW I`ve just done 1100 hi speed miles across europe (incl unrestricted autobahns [8D]) on my new Falkens (16" on D90`s) and found that 34psi rear (loads of luggage/spares etc) and 32 psi front seemed to give a nice balance. I`m not sure that the car needs massively different pressures as it has a pretty good 50:50 balance.

I normally run 32 psi ish on both axles.

I have reset them to 32 all round and been out for a spin - much much better - I'll see how it goes for a while.
Thanks for the help,
Chris.
