What tyres for an '86 944 turbo

Hi chaps,

Two quick questions:

- What is the factory standard tyre size for an '86 turbo (i gather front and rear are slightly different)?
- Any recomendations on what tyres to use (what make and model) for something that is good for everyday use, from a respectable supplier, but which is also good value for money (i.e. not racing standard necessarily).

Many thanks!
Alex

Absolutely not Pirelli P6000.

I'm not sure what is current popular pick, but Toyo T1(R, S, whatever it is nowadays) is usually highly rated, as is one of the Kumhos and Goodyear GSD3 (which I personally think has a hideous looking tread pattern).

Do a search for tyres on here, and you'll find lots of similar threads. It largely depends upon your budget, but the only one I'd add to Fen's list is the Falken FK452 (or something).

I have Bridgestone Turanza RE30's on the standard 225/50x16 and 205/55x16 sizes and they work well for me. Good mix of grip and roadholding. I had Pirelli P Zeros and they didnt give the same confidence level .... In the wet they were entertaining at best and downright dangerous at worst []

Id recommend Falken as well: theyre excellent tyres and a set in the original sizes will only cost about £220 delivered!. Unfortunately they dont seem to offer a 245/45/16, which is becoming a hard to find size. Toyo do offer a 246/45 T1R, but theyll cost the best part of £100 each delivered.
