What tyres should I go for ??

If your car is still under warranty you need to stick with the same tyres as changing may invalidate the warranty. Either way, you need to use "N" spec or Porsche approved tyres as otherwise your insurers may leave you high and dry in the event of a bad smash.

Hi All

I am new to Porsche ownership and am running on Mitchies at the moment they have now covered 14K and not sure how many more miles I have left so am looking at options and prices for replacements......... I have looked at Bridgestone but not sure what they will be like? Should I stick to Mitchies ? How many miles (ish) should I expect to get on a new set ?? Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Pete

there is a difference of opinion here as with most things!! i started on the factory supplied contis and changed after 8k miles to mich pilot sport n's.far superior in my book.wouldnt have anything else now-i have been told to expect 14k miles from rears and up to 24k miles from the fronts.(by experts!!)

There are only 3 choices if you are going to stay N rated; Conti's, Michelin or Bridgestone. I liked the OE Conti's so much I bought them again, but I seem to be in the minority. [;)]

Michelin - No contest You'll probably go through 2 sets of rears to each set of fronts anyway - so you wouldn't want to be replacing all 4 at this point - which you would have to do if you changed brand.

Hi Pete, My vote goes for Michies as well, N3 rating are the ones you need, I got 18,000 out of the rears and then changed all 4 at just under 30,000.

I'd vote for Michelins, even though my car currently has Bridgestones fitted. The Bridgestones are harder and noisier than the Michelins. I've previously run Continentals, but, although they were much softer and quieter than the Bridgestones they also made the handling rather wooly. When I replace the tyres, it will be with Michelins. With regard to the warranty, you don't have to stick to the same brand as you have at the moment, just as long as you stick to tyres from the original factory fit list, ie. Porsche 'N' rated tyres from Michelin, Continental or Bridgestone in the correct size and profile. However, as you already have Michelins fitted, I'd stick with them.

It does throw another option into the mix though John, I'm already thinking of repalcements, and don't know whether to go PS2's of the same again

Thanks Guys I think I will stick to the michies then.... which saves changing all 4 and to be honest i get little or no road noise so get to hear plenty of engine growl [:)]
