Nothing like starting with a simple question eh??
Quite apart from the "N-rated" discussion (do you or don't you?) there are many to choose from. Many people seem to favour Continentals although Toyo Proxies and Bridgestone S-O2 (no longer available I believe) have their fans too.
You didn't mention if the car is a C2 or a C4 - front tyres particularly are more important to the C4 to control the understeer.
Expect lots of replies!!!

I have been pondering the same thing. Previously on my C2 was fitted Michelin Pilot sport on standard 16" cups 6j front 8j rear which handled and rode really well. I notice thought that the latest Michelin pilot sport the tread pattern has changed.
Have just change wheels to genuine Porsche 17" 7j on front 9j on rear fitted with Pirelli P-Zero N2's while the grip is good and the ride obviously a little harder the steering feels lighter for some reason. The tyres all round have 36psi inflation as recommended. Not sure whether this difference is due to tyre type or tread as it is a different pattern than the Michelin's or something else. Not totally confident with new tyres at the moment will have to make some enquiries. Not sure this reply helps you though but it has got me thinking!.
