1981 vehicle - what should be in there? I have stereo speakers wired in (damn - far too heavy [:D] ) .
Was it a Porsche badged Blaupunkt?

Come on some of you detail wonks [8|] will know!

Thanks!

just had a look in the 924 "gold portfolio" amd Micheal Cotton's "porsche 924 and 944". None of these books list a specific radio model except that for 1981 porsche cars GB supplied the CGT with a National Panasonic item.

I think the book called
190143205x.jpg
by Peter Morgan has model numbers listed but sadly I gave away my copy []

Best of luck,

Bert

Thanks for the link, hotblack944 & bertorex
So it might be
  • Fader control provided
  • Super Arimat digital radio, antenna, three speakers (M126?)
  • Porsche U.K. typically installed Panasonic stereos, such as the CQ-873 radio/cassette.
It has a Panasonic fitted!! Damn I was hoping for something butch and black and Blue Spotted.

I think we should talk. [;)]

With all the docs that came with the car I have found the original radio manual - and it is a Panasonic thing - looks awful. So your blue should hit the spot (errr sorry ...)

Pete you can buy a gadget for a few quid that slips into the cassette slot which is really a self powering adapter for MP3. All you do is plug the trailing lead into your *pod. This alllows you to keep your stereo original. I've got one for my 944.

I agree, the gold Panasonic was an an ugly old lump. I have a CD player with a removeable front. When it's removed, which frankly is just about permanently, it just looks like a black blanking plate.

Have a look at an FM transmitter. Plug it into your Ipod and tune your radio to the correct channel. Easy to hide both Ipod and transmitter in the glovebox.

Cheers,

Sounds like a plan!
I will try and make Front Runner - but job demands I run around a lot. I am in Singapore right now and looking at the car mags the modern radios over here look the muts nutz.

At least I will give you the Panasonic (?) that is in it at the moment. Do not know what it is other than silver and it plays MP3 on its CD.
