What Wheels..........

I know the last of the 944 S2 had the bridge spoiler but what type and size of alloy wheels were they specced with from the factory. Was it still the D90's in 16 inch format.............don't really like the look of them [8|] any other suggestions........................

Cup1`s float my boat ever since they first came out. They look good on any Porsche (17" ones anyway)

Cup 1's are lovely but I personally think the wheels that suit the 944 best are 5 spoke wheels with a twist - like turbo cup 3's, Boxster twists and my personal favourites that are high up on my list - 996 turbo wheels. I also like the 5 spoke Carrera wheels as fitted on 997's and Boxsters (Rick Cannel has these on his car also), and the GT3mk1 wheels as sported by Nick 'Appleton' also look nice. I'd like to see what a set of GT3mk3 wheels looks like also.

Another vote for Cup 1s from me, i think they just somehow look right.

Which neatly leads me to ask.....where is the best place to get a set of 17"s, either new or reconditioned?

Look up Mille Miglia......................... or if you`re luckier than a lucky thing you might find some Porsche owner/dealer selling s/h originals.

Note that they are v heavy compared to D90`s

Thanks but I don't seem to be able to find the Mille Miglia you are referring to. One comment on a VW beetle forum suggested it was a company that has now gone bust....am i searching for the wrong thing?

well I've had all three ...D90 Fuchs and currently Cup 1 and I'd say that cup1's fill those arches brilliantly but my fav is still the fuchs I had on my original Lux they always looked gorgeous
There is another wheel that looks very much like the D90 I think it looks a lot better but is a bit rare. I would be interested to see some of the new Aston and BMW wheels on a 944 . There used to be a bit of software where you could copy paste wheels into a image of your car .

Yes Milie Miglia went bust. My '85 car has Cup 3's made by them and they are nice wheels. I have put Cup 1's on my new car, am not sure which I prefer tbh. I would also suggest Design911 as a good source for whatever type you are looking for.

I agree CUP 1's look great, got a set on at the moment but the car now handles very differently, they do seem much heavier. Maybe once I sort out the KW Coilovers all will be well.......best write that letter to Santa now........

As Tony and George said ... why tinker with perfection? D90's look right, are light (very light) which helps the handling, and don't cost you anything if they are already on there ... so why change!

Oli.

I have the D90s and really like the look of them. I just have the color inserts and it makes a nice difference. However, if you don't like the look of them then it's a personal thing so while I'd keep the D90s I would also like a set of Cup1 wheels.

I do like the look of the D90's and like keeping the appearance original even if i tinker a bit under the bonnet [;)]. After hearing (on this forum and others) how heavy the Cup 1s are i think i'll get the D90's refurbed for now and stick with them.
