What will happen to the RS Day next year at Oulton ?

With the demise of Easy Track and the unclear position of Porsche on Track what are the plans for this day next year. I raise the topic now, having attended 6 of them I feel it need to be looked after sooner rather than later and the spirit and essence of the day is not changed. Ideally I personally would like Melv et al involved again, the same time of year, same track and same other drivers with some new ones added. The Friday works well but Saturday is ok too.
I got an email today from a company that had bought Easy Tracks Web Booking system from the liquidator thats what prompted my post. Do we, should we want them involved ? I 'd appreciate if only past RS Day attendees replied or potential new ones who are serious about attending, not just posting random thoughts here for the sake of it.

I'd suggest you take the time to look at the thread Easytrack has ceased trading on pistonheads. It's a long read but worth it, you will be enlightened !!

I have replied to your post on Pistonheads.

I just wonder if PCGB could not take this on successfully?

I appreciate that years of hard work by Melv, Paul Howells and others went in to making the RS day a great event and have no wish to tread on anybody's toes. Thinking about it, I am sure that they will have a plan!

I was away at end of April and missed the PH thread, thanks Laurence for the heads up, I 've just spent 40 mins reading it. My hope for the RS Day 2014 is that nothing changes and we just get on with it. I'm undecided on the merits of PCGB taking it over, there's for and against.

One of those 'others' that has been instrumental in the RS day right from the start is Tim of Easytrack. I'm sure most of the regular RS attendees will know Tim and will also know how passionate he was about getting Porsche owners to take their cars on track. Unfortunately, Tim was diagnosed with a serious illness prior to the current situation with Easytrack. The latter means that he suffered a double whammy as he's now out of a job too.

I'm hoping that people will realize that the work put in by Tim and our guys to launch P-O-T was a genuine effort to provide Porsche owners with their own track day club. I also hope that people can see that P-O-T was brought down by the owners of Easytrack winding it up and that there was nothing our guys or Tim (as an employee) could do about it. Like you Rob, I'm sure Mel will ensure that the RS day is around for years to come, one way or the other. We just need to give him some time to work on it. [:)]

Fair enough.

I just thought that if there is a problem, the Club can easily solve it. If there isn't then it's academic.

Best of luck to all, am sure it will work out.

I don,t get why easy track has anything to do with porsche on track failing.

Pot was pushed not to have involvement by easy track,, but if this was not the case some one has been telling pork pies.

Give the event to book a track, as they know what they are doing and refund all porsche on track members their member ship money.

as Jonny has already offered to host the event, all it needs is some one to agree and yes ok :).

Hi guys Ive been to all the RS since day one know all the usuals Ive already disccussed this with Darren from Ring Weekends and hes willing to take this event on . I organised our last years trackies to go to Ring +SPa as a group (26) great organised event and had no issues ..Been using his events for last 4 years , hes strict about driving and car conditions..await ur comments Gordon

I'd expect people will be falling over themselves to get the RS day!!

70 experienced drivers all signed up and sold out in about a week flat?

Keeeeeerrrrrrrrrching!!

What is going on with Porsche on Track then? Does it say in the thread (I only got to page 20 before potential suicide loomed...)

Can we have an update from someone who is keeping up to date with the thread?

Whoever takes this on its time for some changes (i) another track, perhaps Silverstone or Brands Hatch GP and (ii) a date later in the year when it's less likely to be wet and/or freezing cold.

O/Park is central for most few hours drive from Scotland /south England great circuit with every type corners... don't get that at Brands or Silverstone ... weather who cares.. same for everyone .Only need to change venue to April ( warmer) and add a Sept think it would sell out no probs

Sorry Damen,go to Silverstone, pick better weather but it wont be the RS Day at Oulton in the Spring then! There's a little thing that's important to us that do , it's called tradition. RS Day takes place at Oulton, March/April, Melv is the Man, noise limit causes headache, we do pax laps for charity, it's bloody cold and we finish up early. Most of all , it's probably the most social Porsche event bar none in the UK.

I've done previous RS days at Oulton Park like you and enjoyed the day very much. I just think a change would be a good thing and it may attract more RS back to the day (numbers have dropped off in recent years). Obviously, whoever is minded to take on the running of the event will have the final say on date and venue.

I'd think the decision on where and when will not be with the organisers if they move it, the old gang will continue to go to Oulton in March. But, I agree it's a good idea to have a second day and possibly at Silverstone. Though the attempt to have an RS 2 Day at Snetterton in the Autumn did not go down well.
