Hello all,

I will shortly be selling my C2 and could do with some help working out what it's worth.

The specification is as follows:

2001 3.4 C2 Manual
50,000 miles
Full OPC service history, minor service about to be carried out
Lapis blue
Good spec including: PSE, sports seats, 3 spoke steering wheel, cruise control, GT3 alloys and a few other bits
Porsche extended warranty until November

I was hoping to get at least £23,000. Am I kidding myself or should this be achievable?

Thanks

James

Bear in mind that the market is still collapsing and it will continue likewise for at least another 6 months plus Porsche is considered a "luxury" item and to be targeted for high road taxation....[]
If you need the money quickly I would drop to £21k and possibly accept £20k.. [&:]

Hi James,

First of all, ask yourself one question...do I really want to sell?! ( unless its to get another one [:D])

I would guess you would easily achieve this and in my opinion it is quite underpriced! Maybe 23k if it had +80k on the clock
I know the market prices are very varied but I would hope you would get around 25k for a quick sale and maybe a little more if you were willing to have it hanging around. I found that people will pay what they are worth to get their preferences , ie colour combo, c2/c4, auto/man, cab/coupe. Just depends how long you have got to wait for the right sale. I'm guessing its not the facelift with it having the 3.4 engine and not the 3.6 as it would be worth a few k more, say 27k

Also, atleast if you start it higher you have the option to reduce it/get knocked down a little rather than starting off at the bargain price and probably still get knocked down some!

Hope thats of some help, Only my opinion though. I'm sure others will agree/disagree.
Good luck with the sale!

i have to agree with dr p-the bottom has really fallen thru with 996`s especially-my 996 c4 53 plate sold 18 months ago for 35k even before the recent downturn, and a friend recently got offered only 15k for his immac 1999c23.4 so i reckon if you really want to sell you are looking at 20k region, perhaps 2 or 3 more if the right person comes along so worth trying for 22/23 on PH
good luck, but now is not the time to sell (IMHO)-when is???

I would say that £23k is about right for a private sale - it's just a question of finding the buyer. My brother got £23.5k for his 1999 C4 with 72k on the clock about 3 months ago. He put it on the Autotrader web site, got no calls for 10 days, then had 3 calls on the same day and sold it to the first caller. Maybe he just got lucky, but even with the downturn, £23k for an 01 should be OK if you aren't in a hell of a hurry.

Dylan - your friend with the 1999 C2 - was that 15k from a dealer? That also sounds about right to me for an outright purchase, as they would probably put it on the forecourt for £21-22k.

...and to be targeted for high road taxation....

Depends whether or not it's post March 2001. Mine is a January car which will retain the low(er) tax rate. If yours is, it is likely to be a good selling point.

23k sounds about right for a quick sale.

Personally, if I'm buying a 2001 age car, I'd go for an X-reg one (or even a 2000 year model) over a Y-reg 2001 to save the 240 GBP extra tax per annum ...

Looks just like mine, without the silver dash bits inside. The price is actually 24995, without the warrantee, so factor in the fact this is a dealer price, the age difference and mileage and looks like 23K should be easily achievable for yours with OPC warrantee and toys like the cruise.

good luck.

Thanks guys, sounds like I can be more optimistic than I have been. If I do sell I am sure I will be back in due course.

James
