Whats my 997 cab worth.

Hi

Am thinking of going for the new generation 2 997 but a bit disappointed with the trade in offered by the OPC that I have been dealing with for many years.

The car is a 997 Cab Tiptronic bought in April 2005 (first cab on the register) by myself. Mileage 15K. Warranty until April 2009
Seal grey, PCM nav and phone. Stone grey full leather. Sports adaptive full elec seats, 19" Carrera Classic wheels, cruise, rear park assistance, PASM, Bi-xenons, Homelink , multi function steering wheel, Sports chrono plus, sports exhaust, armofend protection, tracker fitted, Dension gateway 500 fitted, floor mats.

What would be a fair trade in or reasonable private sale.

Regards

Jonathan

The coupe version is retailing now at around £48-50k in independents - they probably bought them in the trade for £45k or less. Add £5k on for the cab and maybe another £1k for the extra spec.

£50k seems about right part ex / private sale - £30k ? loss in 3 years not bad in current climate to be honest !

why dont you give paragon in kent a ring-he will give you a fair price(imo)i suspect it`ll be mid-late 40`s if its a c2 cab

Hate to say it but being intimately involved with the trade there are no customers and plenty of stock at OPC's. I know of an 06 C2S that went for £40k in the trade last week. Anything between 40 and 50 you're doing well. 05 C2S coupe's are being bought for £35-£38k. 54 plates at £32k. Lot's of people are asking daft money on Pistonheads etc. I'd keep it if I were you !

just noticed charles ivey has a nice 2005 c2 cab 20k miles for £47k-and he`s not renowned for being cheap[:(]

The way to look at it is 'swings and roundabouts'

If you lose on the 'trade in', you can win on the purchase of its replacement by haggling hard on another used model.

The people who'll keep getting their fingers burnt are those who keep trading in for the latest new model.

I agree with these comments, to a certain extent. However, don't expect much of a deal against a Gen 2. They can sell all they can get .... at present. I was offered a great deal against a new 997 Cab in stock, but much less against a Gen 2 order. However, I am convinced that many orders for Gen 2 will collapse due to the economic climate, so the position may improve. As Rob says, residuals are terrible at present, but my friendly OPC buyer tells me they will now slowly recover.

I might pull the plug on the sale of mine as it's worth keeping the bloody thing. pre facelift 997 is a superb car - certainly shouldn't be given away especially just to buy the facelift which WILL depreciate as well.

Couldn't agree more Jamie, I'm keeping mine to 998 in 2010/11. In the olden days you could change annually for a couple of grand, these days you lose £2k per month ! Same for everyone I know, particularly since they've been chasing volume. And now we have the credit crunch and cost of living 'realignment' ! The wife is doing well at MINI though, taken in a Cayenne, 2x987 and one 997 in the last 3 weeks alone !

you have a super car jamie-i would keep it if i were you[;)]
as you say ,it is worth far more than you are going to get currently

IT and Finance BPO consultant, but the wife runs a MINI dealership which I find far more interesting !
