Hi guys.

As some of you will know I picked up me new Turbo on Friday and it has some power steering leaks. I'm working my way to getting bits today, but I'm not liking the prices of PS hoeses much !! [:'(]

What's the best manual to get in terms of maintenance ? Haynes etc. or is there a Porsche one which there's copies flying about ? Just so I can see a diagram of all the system etc. in front of me, as I'm in work now and want to understand things better. Before I spend more hard earned though, I thought I better ask those in the know !

Thoughts please . . . . . .

Thanks,

Mike

Cheers guys - that's good help.

I'll save my money then. My leaky pipe - that'll be £190 please sir !!!! Not impressed, and will not be paying that. They're coming off the car later - Pirtek here we come. Spoke to the guys and they reckon it can be done. As expensive as dealers are - I can honestly say I can reccomend Steve in parts @ OPC Bolton. Very, very helpful - even send me a full diagram by fax to make sure we were talking the same language. Goooooood guy [:D], but I'm still not paying that price ! haha

I can honestly say I can reccomend Steve in parts @ OPC Bolton. Very, very helpful - even send me a full diagram by fax to make sure we were talking the same language.

I can second that recommendation, although the OPCs are cheapest for some parts and as most people on here will attest Exeter tend to be cheapest of all and deliver.

Bolton can deliver if you really want although they don't normally. When I needed a part quickly though that they had in stock they actually delivered it to me for free using one of their mechanics!

I 'third' that recommendation for Bolton OPC parts guys - all very helpful and you get 10% discount if a member of PCGB.

As well as the factory manuals from various sources listed above you can also browse/ download the Porsche PET parts manuals on the Porsche website:

http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/classic/

Once you get used to the format you can easily pull up detailed parts drawings and part numbers from any part of the car. It's just a shame they don't include the current prices that the dealers can see on their screens [:(]

It's one of the ways that Porsche actively help owners of our older 'classic' models [:)] and is a welcome change to the way they used to get heavy with people who had copies of the factory manual a few years ago.

Anyone got the contact details for Exeter OPC then ? I've decided to get the res-pump pipe from them, along with a nice new throttle cable as the other has a kink in it and is past it's best.

Result with the pump-rack pipe today though. OPC price = £189, or you can take it to Pirtek in Wigan and get it re-made for £50 [:D] Well done to Stuart in there - very helpful guy who knew his onions. Can recommend them, and they also said they can get braided brake hoses etc. and even silicon hoses for boost / water pipes etc. etc.

Feel like I'm getting there bit by bit - should be out in her by the weekend properly at this rate.

Thanks guys,

Mike

Pirtek are great, but some of the Porsche fittings are (deliberately I believe) a mix of imperial nipples and metric threads - the fuel lines in the engine bay for example. Pirtek can still sort you out by reusing the old fitting though.
