Whats the correct name for .....

.....The piece of plastic under the bonnet that covers (I think!) the heater and maybe aircon unit and then continues up to the bottom of the windscreen ? It runs basically the full width of the screen and the windscreen wiper arms are attached through it/to it.

This rather convoluted description is because mine has decided to crack in a couple of places for no apparent reason and makes an annoying vibrating noise when the car first starts up. Am looking to get a new one (have repaired it temporarily) but have no idea what to ask for ?

Anyone any idea ? Plus any idea of its cost ?

Thanks

I think it's called "The piece of plastic under the bonnet that covers the heater and aircon unit and then continues up to the bottom of the windscreen".

... but if you had to save a bit of time, I think it's called the wiper mechanism cover.

Oli.

It'sexy name is 945 572 063 03 RH and a few of us have got them from OPC in the last couple of years.

Me being one (if I had been at home I'd have got the p/n from an invoice for you). As I'm not at home I also can't tell you what I paid for it, but in any case I have a feeling it was on the shelf having been ordered by a local PCGB member who sadly passed away before collecting it so I got it for next to nothing.

I asked my local OPC and from memory was quoted approx. £20-24. However how easy is it to fit?

I wouldn't mind replacing mine but it looks fairly simple to fit apart from one thing - it appears to be clamped underneath the two large windscreen clamps so to remove it properly you would have to remove the windscreen, unless you cut around it and make two cut-outs in the new one.

No need to remove the windscreen.

Remove the wiper arms and you will find the two nuts and large washers. You just need to remove those - the wiper mechanism all stays in place. Total job about 20 minutes.
