Could someone help with a stupid query?

What is the point of "radio text" on PCM, it just seems to tell me that I am tuned to a radio station that plays music?

There must be more to it, does anyone know?

again a euro-land feature that has yet to reach our shores...

works quite well over there !

you will get the name of the track and artist details and much more...

although in the early days, certain radio stations apparently did abuse the service and send out 'messages'... very funny though !

Yes, it is mostly pointless in the UK at the moment, but is sometimes used. For example, during the Top 40 on Radio 1, it tells you what track is playing, who the artist is, how many weeks on the chart and how much it has gone up or down that week. All of which they tell you at the start and end of the record anyway :)

It depends where you live there are some commercial radio stations that send the artist and track details etc...I have had this feature for years on a Kenwood head unit I have fitted in my company car. Some stations also send program information and phone numbers etc...

You may have to do some miles to discover them!
