What's your cost of your Porsche love affair?

I have owned my car for nearly 12 months and I need to visit my local indie ( who I am quite friendly with) to fix a blow from bank one cat to manifold flange. I am having both done plus a low temp thermostat fitted. My discount brought the brackets and flange seals in at £107 for both sides , to be honest I was surprised with the cost. That got me thinking what the cost of ownership was for my 997. Last year I spent around £1300 on repairs and a minor service . I have spent around £3k ish but I've upgraded my PCM,steering wheel and replaced some worn interior parts. That cost me around the £2k mark , but it was worth every penny. The question to the other members , how does my £100 a month ish in repairs and servicing compare to other 997 ownership experience? When I think the last car I owned a large SUV, that it lost just over half it's value in 3 years (£500 to £600 a month) it makes me smile at £100 a month in bills plus the fun the car returns on tap everyday just puts a smile on my face .

Hi Steve,

Couldn‘t agree more, as an ex-Porsche owner now, my 2006 997.1 Cab cost me similar money to properly maintain annually, usually fluctuating between £1-2k pa with an Indy.

Depreciation over 4-5 years was circa £2k total, which was a total surprise on selling a car 13 years old! And for the daily drive experience and that "smile on your face factor”, it was worth every penny! Especially when compared to the depreciation of other vehicles, despite maintenance costs even.

Cant wait until my little ones grown up a little and I don’t have to cart around the whole house and can be a 911 owner once again :).

Hope you keep enjoying many more trouble free miles!

Peter
