Wheel advice.....

I currently have a 986 boxster running on 225/50/17 front and 255/50/17 on rear......
What difference to the driving would it have to put the standard 16"s on?...
I didn't know they did 16 but they are genuine boxster wheels....
Thanks

16 inch ok if you want to put on winter tyres. Most people opt for 18 inch if you want the ultimate width, laying down 265x35 x18 at the rear

16" wheels provide a more comfortable ride due to the higher profile of the tyre, they are fantastically different even with summer tyres on when used in the winter on snow, With 17" wheels getting moving in snow is difficult but just that tiny difference of 1 inch completely changes the traction available.
Tyres are also much cheaper to replace.

The 16" wheels are from many years ago and fitted to the 2.5 models, I don't think they can be fitted to a later "S" version because the brake callipers and disc are too large.

My original 2.5 from 97 had 16s and I bought some 17s, the 17s looked so much better but come winter and the 16s went back on.

Boxster is an accident waiting to happen on snow with 17s or larger - as driveable as any other car in snow with 16s
