Wheel arch protection

My wheel arch protector stickers are looking ragged and are becoming an eyesore on the car

Any ideas where I can get some more

Thanks

Paul

I had mine replaced by OPC body shop, but they are available from people like Porscheshop telephone No. 0121 5856088 or email yourcar@porscheshop.co.uk.

If you are taking them off yourself, be very very careful as you can strip off the paintwork. I took mine off with the greatest of care and very very slowly. They are quite difficult to stick on new ones without getting any bubbles locked in and they are stuck on wet so that they can to a certain amount be slipped into place. Here again if you are doing them yourself ask the supplier for instructions.

Hope this helps
Harriet

As I understand, to remove them, heat them up with a hair dryer first. This melts the glue line.

Hi - I just did mine - my car is white so had to get them from the OPC. The previous owner had used the pattern clear ones & they had gone a horrid yellow colour.

I didn't need to apply any heat at all to get the old oned off, just peeled them away gently.

The new ones went on just as easily.

Cheers,

Mike.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but the original ones go yellow too - probably takes a good few years but still happens so maybe yours were the factory ones.

Wasn't aware I was in a bubble Fen, but thanks anyway [:D]

The ones I took off were clear - not white. I know they were clear 'cos I could see all the way through them.... [8|]

Lol - sorry I probably could have put it differently.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]They should all be clear and hence allow the paint behind to show through - I haven't seen deliberately coloured ones. On both the Glacier blue cars I have had they have discoloured so that they appeared to darken the area they were on - they discolour yellowey brown. Replacing them on the Turbo solved the problem and 4 years on they still look OK (but they're coming off today). I didn't bother replacing the cab ones because I never got around to getting its paint tidied up.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Sometimes they have been painted over but you really don't want that shoddy a paint job to have been done on your car.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Hey Fen - after all the incidents here in the city yesterday, I think I would rather be in a bubble!

When I spoke to Bert about stoneguards, he said that he didn't sell stoneguards for the white cars - all other colours use a clear film, but for the white cars it is colour coded (ie. Alpine white) film, and it must come from the OPC. I ordered them from my local dealer (40 quid for just one arch!) & they are indeed Alpine White, not clear. And they look lovely [:D]

We bought some (clear) ones from Eurocarparts - a reasonable price we thought and they were OEM!

Hmmm. My alpine white S has yellowed/discoloured ones, so I assumed that they were originally transparent.

mcress, how do they look against the original paint? Has the paint faded? Is there a contrast?

They were clear on my white Lux. They had gone a little yellow but, considering the overall finish of the car, and stack of bills for everything else, I had no reason to consider they were anything but original.

A while after Tony bought his 944 S2, we noticed that his wheel arch protectors were the same colour as his car (Maritime Blue), very hard to see that they were not clear. They had been sprayed over!! When we took this up for reasons of entering concours and wanting the car to be original, we were assured by the OPC that they should ALL be clear and subsequently we had them changed.

I replaced mine and got painted ones, factory made in 1990 [:)]

I was moved to tear apart the 15 years-old factory plastic bag. Maybe it will cost the Earth in Beaulieu in some 50 years.

There we are, we can't believe everything we are told by the OPCs!!!! I am sure they get a lot of things wrong (human nature).

Here is how they came to me. Here the right side kit. 9ZK is the color code (LY7T).

mcress, that's good to hear. White may not be the most popular colour (though I like it) but at least it doesn't fade that badly.
