Wheel balance weight stickers

Hi All,
This is a simple question which should hopefully have a simple answer [:D].

When you have a new set of tyres fitted to your Porsche, the old balance weights are removed and the ugly black sticker is left on the rim. Can someone please advise the best method for removing this without damaging the paint/lacquer ? The service department at my local Porsche Centre in Solihull suggested 'Brake Cleaner'.

The stickers are very visible on the 18" 'Technologie' (Turbo) wheels (at least that is what I think they are called) that are fitted to my C4S.

If this topic has been covered before please accept my apologies and direct me to the answers!

Regards,

Mark Thompson

(P.S. I am a Porsche Club member waiting for Club Office to update status.)

I've usually picked the worst off with my finger nail and then finished off with a little T-Cut. Any solvent will work - petrol, thinners, white spirit, turps - even WD-40. None of them will have any effect on the existing finish - unless you go really mad with the T-Cut.

Regards

Dave

white spirit or petrol followed by t-cut and then lots and lots of polish - or paint the insides black; trust me, I am very tempted

Thanks for all the replies.

I thought about the finger nail route but with the size and quantity of stickers I would have no finger nails left! So, it looks like I will try white spirit followed by polish and wax.

Hopefully will meet some of you fellow 993 owners at Ragley Hall. Is the pig roast and barbeque worth the money or should I bring picnic. There will be 4 of us in the car !

Cheers,

Mark [:)]
