http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ I use these guys, they come to you to fit. Currently running Bridgestones on a gen 1 S. D

Hi All, I am in the process of pricing replacement tyres for our Gen 1 Cayman S and wanted to canvass opinion!

We have the 18" wheels with 265/40/R18 101Y and 235/40/R18 91Y Michelin Pilot Sport tyres fitted. I intend to replace all 4 with the Pilot Sport 2s, is this what most people run?

Best price so far seems to be £235 for a rear and £165 for a front?

Whilst the wheels are off I'm considering replacing the wheel bolts which are the standard Porsche items and have been rusty pretty much since we bought the car! Has anyone else replaced their bolts and if so what are you using to avoid the tatty looking finish from the standard items?

Thanks in advance,
Richard

Replacement bolts will just go rusty again too, unless you spend a fortune on titanium or stainless ones. I use a set of black plastic caps on mine, which have proven very successful. Loads available on eBay in black, chrome or grey. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=19mm+wheel+bolt+caps&_sacat=0&_from=R40

I painted the locking bolts and use caps on the other four. I have used Continentals, Michelin Pilot Sports and Bridgestones of which I prefer the Bridgestones on 19" or Michelins which are more expensive. Conti's wear too fast.

I replaced my slowly getting rusty bolts with a set of black ones which the 991 comes with. I would imagine the 981 has the same/similar black bolts. Much, much better for just over £100
