Wheel Bolts

Hi Gents,
Usual sort of thing - my wheel bolts looking very rusty and tired and I am also going to change my tyres soon too. Me and a couple of Gt3 owners are having a trip to stuttgart soon so all in preperation for it. Question is - has anyone bought the Designtek wheel bolts from Design 911 and the like and fitted them? They seem a lot less resistant to corrosion etc than the Porsche OEM ones just wondered if anyone had encountered any probs or issues? My car is no longer under warranty so that not an issue even tho it shouldn't be anyway because they look better quality.

Cheers and regards all

Some 997 register members are currently using 991 black bolts that seem to fit the bill and are not unreasonably priced, apparently.

Regards,

Clive

I removed the wheel bolts on my 997, cleaned with a wire brush in my electric drill and sprayed with rattle cans. Look as good as new!

yes I have seen posts in certian mags about doing this but I am sooo rubbish at DIY I recon Abu Hamza would do a better job than me....

Fitted a set of 991 black bolts to mine - so much nicer than the original rusty silver ones! Around £140 including locking bolt for complete set from your local friendly PC (if you don't have one of those try Exeter........[;)])

ok guys thanks will do. The DesignTek ones although prob last a lot longer do look a bit more 'bling' Also in my post I mentioned tyres so far I have found that a place called ATS Euromaster seem to be the cheapest around £1100 for 4 Michelin PS2's - that said my local Kwik-fit did say that they would match that price too...
Thanks all

Don't use 'Kr@p Fit' if you want undamaged alloys! My experience anyway.

[] ATS and Kwik fit in one sentance!!
They may be cheap but work in the expense of a wheel refurb, which for the Turbo isn't the easiest of things to get done..!
I'm happy to pay that bit more to have my wheels looked after by the fitter..

Locally Protyre are very good and have never shown my car a air wrench- plus as a member you get 10% discoun from them

Would not let the amateurs near the car.

Still reminded of my experience with a 540i: arrived at KwikFit to pick car up to see the 225/45s on the WIDE alloys on the FRONT, and the 255/40s on the NARROW alloys on the BACK.

Ok chaps points taken. After a recent call to my very helpful OPC they are very competitive on tyres now and cant think of anyone who will treat my turbo wheels better!! Going to get the new 991 black bolts stuck on at the same time..
All the best

Ben
