Wheel cleaner

I cleaned the wheels on my BMW with some cleaner I got from Wax wizard on the Boxanet forum. I did the boxster too but forgot to take a photo before i put the cover on.

The cleaner he makes up himself, simply spray on then blast of with a power washer, no rubbing or agitating at all. I cant believe how these have come up, all the brake dust and grime gone with no effort at all and safe to use, its not an acid.

what do you think?

I think they look almost as good as mine after washing with
luke warm soapy water :ROFLMAO: but truth be known I wash
my daily drives wheels, MINI CS, every single day hence never really filthy, and my Boxsters never sees foul weather action so no problem ....

Notice from the pics that your BMW wheels are probably easy to clean anyway!

Try standard mk 1 GT3 split rims if you want a challenge!

I use Zymol wheelcleaner and Autoglym intensive tar remover. This tends to remove every last bit of tar, brake pad dust, crud and anything else stuck in the crevices. Hot soapy water and then a blast with the pressure washer. This tends to be kind to the lungs and nasel passages as well.

Don't like Wonder Wheels as this practically destroys lungs of those standing downwind. Regards GARY

I use a spray-on solution called P21S, supplied by iauto.co.uk - does a fantastic job. Spray it on (which means you can get it into ANY corner), leave 20 minutes and then hose off (any maybe a quick wipe) for a perfect finish. Removes any level of brake dust you like and leaves your wheels looking like new. Totally non-corrosive.

Gary,

I've used the Zymol wheel cleaner and this stuff from Wax wizard is so much better I didn't need to use a sponge or cloth to wipe the wheels, even on the inside where it tends to get very dirty.

Those wheels have done 76K miles and they came up like new, They weren't pitted but the insides were heavily blackened. I was so impressed thought I'd share on the forum, beats using the toothbrush and doesn't leave an after taste either[:D]

The Wax wizards product is made of natural ingredients it is non acidic unlike many wheel cleaners. Means you can leave it on as long as you like without the worry of damaging/ruining your wheels!!

I have Sports classics (probably the worst wheels for cleaning) and they come up almost spotless every time, depending on how much time I can be bothered to spend on them!

I've always used the Porsche Wheel cleaner, and find it excellent. Not acidic; nice and soapy and not that expensive (especially with 10% PCGB discount at the OPC)
Someone on the forum, (who shall remain nameless) recommended the BMW wheel cleaner, so I bought the 5 litre container. It's .... not great, and has started to etch into the surface of the rims. Now back on the Porsche cleaner.
For Sale 4.9 litres of BMW wheel cleaner........

I think his number is 07966 713 177 he's a great guy very helpful when I rang him.

Not sure of his email address I will see if I can get it for you

I use the Porsche wheel cleaner and have a couple of observations. Firstly, the spray bottle comes as part of the Wheel Cleaning Kit. When mine ran out I threw the spray bottle away and headed down to my OPC to get a replacement. They told me that they only do a refill - this is a bottle only without the spray attachment. I would have to buy another full wheel cleaning kit if I wanted the spray bottle.

I didn't want to do this as the refill is relatively cheap (for Porsche prices) and the full wheel cleaning kit is quite expensive. So, I bought the refill and now needed a spray bottle. I headed off to B&Q and bought a couple of spray bottles from the plants section (these are normally for watering house plants with a fine water mist).

I filled the spray bottles up using the refill and now the wheel cleaner is dispensed in a fine mist. It gets onto the wheels much better. It also lasts much longer - twice as long in my estimation.

So, from something that was going to prove expensive, I ended up better off. However, if you still want to use the original wheel cleaner spray then don't throw it away as I did. Doh!
