When I had my 997 it had PCCB disks and I was always very wary of taking the wheels off as the are easily chipped and cost a fortune to replace.
I bought myself two wheels guides and it made things so much easier and safer to take the wheels off and on again. Basically they are just a long aluminum stud, about 6" long, that screw into one of the bolt holes. Certainly gave me peace of mind too.
Now that I have the 992, and also a set of winter wheels, I have bought two wheel guides in case I decide to swap the wheels over any time.
Mind you, the wheels are so heavy that there is no way I can lift them with my back. Good job I have a lovely wife to do the job for me [
