wheel locking bolt remover

devans

New member
Whilst trying to remove my front wheel i found that the garage who put on new tyres must have used a pneumatic drill to lock all wheel bolts in place as they were extremely hard to crack free.
However....really bad news....my anti theft locking wheel bolt remover tool has completely snapped. I'm told that it is almost impossible to find a replacement (halfords). Can anyone help here, ive attached a photo just in case anyone has a spare i could buy.
Failing this, what on earth do i do next !!! My real concern is that not only is the front bolt difficult to remove without the tool but just imagine the rear bolts which are deep into the wheel bolt recesses.
Many thanks, currently on my knees praying!!!!!

Hi David. Have a look here: http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/wheel_nuts_bolts_porsche.html#a2158

Give them a call and they might be able to just sell you the removal tool. (And put a smidge of grease on those shoulders before you put them back on![;)])

All the best.

Adrian.

Thanks adrian and richard.....almost tempted to order one which looked the same from porsche shop. However, after ringing the OPC i discovered there are 35 varieties. Ordered one from OPC which arrived today £26 for the socket seems a bit expensive but have to thank my lucky stars that the original owner fitted porsche locking bolts otherwise it would have meant drilling out....god knows how much that would have cost.
Anyway, on with the track rod ends now i can get my wheels off,
thanks again guys.

A salutary lesson to us all - watch anyone who fits your wheels and make sure thay use a torque wrench not an air impact gun!! ATS tyre fitters can get shirty when you look over their shoulder and correct them on things like this, but a bit of verbal from a tyre monkey is far better than what's just happened here!

Glad it had a happy outcome!
