Wheel / offset / space confirmation

Hi guys,

I'm about to hunt down some more alloy wheels for track use, and keep the current wheels for standard road use. As a result I need to confirm what's currently on the car.

Being a 1988 and having a VIN of ....94ZJ.... I'm pretty sure it's a late model car, normally needing wheels of 52.3mm offset.

Looking through the FAQs though, it seems that tele dials (which are on the car) never came in 15" form (as the wheels are 15s) in this offset, which indicates that they have spacers on. A quick search on eBay though finds two sets of 15" teledials - one for each offset size (which contradicts the FAQs!).

I've just popped out and got some pictures of the front and rear wheels looking through the holes and I was wondering, can you guys confirm:

- Are they late or early wheels?
- Does it have spacers on?

Much appreciated to your responses - Need to make sure I get the same again so they are an easy change at the track. Any questions / more pics / advice to know for certain please let me know.

Most of the teledials you see will be 15" as these were standard on lux models from the mid 1980's owards . Yours will be 15" with an offset of 52.3 as its an 1988 model . I've got a set for sale if you are interested .

I suspect that Im responsible for your doubts... Your S will certainly require 52.3mm offset wheels (nominal for 7" rims) as others have stated. My point was that your car appears to have ET 23 1986 model year wheels fitted. This is because they completely fill your wheelarches, which ABS offset telephone dials dont; and because they have an attractive visible rim - again something only found in '86 wheels.

OK - so are they on spacers or not, are the wheels 52.3mm offsets or not? How do I know for absolute certain?

It will be written them - usually along with the width (eg '6 23mm' or '7 ET52.3'). Look alongside the valve first; or inside on the rear of a spoke if its not there.

eta: be written on them. Editing is a PITA on a smartphone.
