"Wheel Protector" Is Broken ?

Guest

New member
Hit something in the road last night, which I think I was dead animal...
I was relieved to see no damage to the front bumper when I parked up...

When I got home I got down on the floor and had another look and saw that I have broken
the black plastic guard that appears in front of the wheel.

There is an identical guard on the other side of the car.

Need to ring up on Monday and see about getting a new one.

Anyone know what they call them ? or have had one replaced themselves ?

Would be nice to know what is involved in replacing them ...

Just had those replaced myself.
My OPC called them 'front lower lip spoilers'
Jaz called them 'Rubber Lip L' (part number 99650450400) and 'Rubber Lip R' (part number 99650450300)
They cost £7.16 each (plus VAT).

I think they are just a simple screw-on/off job.

Front lower lip spoiler replacement? Very lucky.

When I hit that black 'n' white animal it totalled the front bumper. Oh and the off-side engine rad.

Oh, not forgeting the off-side air-con rad.

And the off side grille

Just had my off side one replaced as well. Parking over a kerb that was to high. OPC Reading called them a spat. Should be a simple plastic screw to the front of the wheel inner liner except on mine it split the liner fixing and required a new liner as well.

Thanks for all the responses...

Always nice to know "what's what" when I speak to the garage..

This will be my first test of the (OPC) after sales service so it will be interested to see how they measure up.
My last car was an Audi and I was very impressed with their customer service...
I hope the OPC is as good...

Quite often the measure of customer service can be guaged by how they treat the customer's
smaller problems.

The price quoted by my OPC to replace the items was £54, so unless you want to pay for the privilege of finding out how nice your OPC are, I'd just order the parts myself and fit them myself.[8|]

At £120+ per hour labour [&o] charges the days of smaller problems are lonnnnnnnng gone :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

£54 !!!!!!!!![]

It is held on by 3 pk self tappers for ker*st sake!

I know Porsche owners are rumoured to have so much money it doesn't matter.

Where do you live as subject to distance obviouslyt, I am willing to pop round and do it for £50 cash....

I think the OPC will spend 5 minutes installing them, then 25 minutes having a look around for other problems that they can cash in on - hence £54

'Sir, your brand new 'Spats' have never looked better....but my oh my, have you had a look at your transmission/engine/chassis recently......its gonna be costly sir!'

I may have it wrong, not the first time. But I thought JZMachtech had them on their website for a fiver each.

ive my receipt here in front of me
PN is
996.504.503.00 H3J5A RAIL
996.504.504.00 H3J6A RAIL

OOps...........See Rodney has posted PNs above, but i can now confirm [;)]

Just a piece of info, (at least I think I've got this right...) these parts are not "wheel protectors" as such. They direct the hot air out of the radiators down, which apparently is part of the aerodynamics of both the Boxster and 911, and was facilitated by the move to water cooling and installation of the two radiators in the wings.

You are correct.

Although I often think some of our air-cooled friends are more in need of "hot air" extractors...[;)]
