Wheel Refurb - The Results

After much deliberating on what colour to have my wheels painted I decided in the end to keep the wheels silver. Thanks for all your help and suggestions! I considered having the rims polished but Shane at Lepsons convinced me the finish was not as durable as I would like, ok for show wheels perhaps but as I use my car regularly it seemed a bad idea.

The silver is pretty much the same as the OM version, and comes in the standard price from Lepsons, others often charge extra. The finish on these wheels is just beautiful, lovely glossy shine and a smooth finish. They have also repainted the centre caps and have even put a coat of clear laquer over the coloured porsche crests, which is nice.

I also took the opportunity to have new rubber fitted all round, Falkens 452's (I got all 4 £230 delivered from Camskills) oh and new wheels nuts too!

All in all I'm very pleased with the results...

Just to remind you how they were

I would definately recommend Lepsons to anyone considering having their wheels refurbed, very professional and great customer service, you do pay a bit more but for me its well worth it, especially as you dont refurb wheels that often so it seems worth spending a bit more and getting them done properly.

Sorry but it looks like we will have to wait for someone else to be brave enough to go for matte black centres and a polished rim!

Good to hear positive things about Lepsons as we have one here in Swindon and that was where I had planned to take mine.
Do you mind me asking how much for all 4?
Did they take them with tyres or did you send wheels only?
Thanks

Could you put contact details of Lepsons on here please?
Also how much it cost.

Looks like an excellent job, sets the car of really nice.

Thanks, I'm well pleased... They cost £280 +vat thats leaving my car with Lepsons, wheels off, tyres off, refurb, new tyres on, new valves, balance, they also checked tracking but as they didnt need to adjust anything they didnt charge for it, they even repainted my wheel nuts in black as they were looking sorry, I still replaced them with new ones as they look much better.

Left the car with them Monday morning picked up Wednesday afternoon.

Very competive for tyres too, (my fronts cost £49ea from Camskills + del, Lepsons were £56ea I think, fitted) and makes sense after the refurb as who else is going to look after your wheels and rims?

They look great! Newly refurbished wheels are always a beautiful thing and it looks like they've done a particularly good job there.

Make sure you get a half decent wheel sealant or wax and give them a good clean every now and then, to keep them like that.

Oh, and by the way, your car needs lowering too [;)]

I'm one step ahead of you there, going to be using Kinish Kare's Fk1000P High Temp sealant as I've heard many good things about it, cheap too, the pot is huge!

Lowered? I know you can almost see daylight through those wheel arches! However my name is Edd not Kevin...[:)]

I bought some Finish Kare 1000p recently as well. Haven't had it long enough to form an opinion on whether it's any good yet, but like you say, the tin is huge!

I have always waxed my alloys though. Sad as it is, it does keep them in fantastic condition, even though the toughest of winters...

Wow, that is incredible!

There's no-one near me that does wheel refurbishment,
but that is bloody amazing, I doubt they looked that good new!

I too doubt they looked like that new, the origianl paint definately looks alot thinner but for 20years wear they did well.

I think Lepson's can do your wheels by mail too, why dont you give them a call.

hiya edd. they look great, brand new, love the cc centres, eager to get my done, nearly tops the list of my proirtys jason p

I know other PCGB registries have done it, if people are interested why dont we organise a visit to Lepsons, see excatly what it is they do there?

Let me know...

Edd

they even repainted my wheel nuts in black as they were looking sorry,

If they were ally nuts and are turning white then change them or make sure they were changed. If metal then its an aesthetic thang.
