WHEEL REFURBISHMENT

reevers

New member
I am looking to get my wheels refurbed/ repainted. Would anyone have any recommendations for carrying out this work??

I am based in Livingston and ideally would prefer someone mobile to visit me to carry out the work if at all possible.

Regards

Have used Alan Macneil on several occasions as has a couple of the guys ,he is good but due to work pressure can some times be hard to tie down to a date ,he come's to you in a large van with all the gear ,tell him you are a Porsche member and Brian recommended him, used to operate as Wicked Wheels.
PS will not touch split rims

Try ACE at Carnwath they will take the wheels off and powder coat them much better finish than painting.

What do you drive Reevers?? There's a few of us from Livi and I've seen a seal grey 997 going about ...... could that be you!??

Unfortunately Kim not me, have a blue 996, but maybe not for long as looking to replace it with a SL55 AMG. Too many problems with the 996, but maybe will have the same with the merc!

Will keep a lookout......I've a silver 997 so if someone flashes you ( the lights I mean) than you'll know it's only me!!

Shame about all your troubles with the 996 though.

How do you rate the 997? I was considering going for the 997 but my car plus £30k sort of put me off! Still have a big list of niggly problems which I find to be unreasonable in a car of that cost!

I love it! My first Porsche was a 1986 Carrera, about 10 years ago. Had a break from that, bought a 3.2 Boxter, had that for a year then traded it for my 997 at the same expense as you're looking at.

Totally different feel to the last 2 which you'd expect. I have total confidence in it, unlike the 1986 model which used to fishtail everywhere if you didn't pay it a bit of respect and was undriveable in the winter! The 997 just sticks to the road. It has porsche stability management which you can switch off if you dare, but with it switched on, it makes a bad driver look awesome! Have had her up at Crail twice and at Knockhill with one of the OPC drivers and that is when the fun really begins. Once driven on a track, there's nothing else in comparison, and you can really find out what these cars are capable of. You could ask OPC at Kinnaird Park for a 997 experience day.........there's no obligation but beware, that's what sold the car to me as I was ready to buy a Cayman! I've had mine for over a year and haven't had any problems although, I don't do a lot of miles.

Are you coming to the Porshe Owners Club meeting next Thursday?? It's at the Dakota hotel at South Queensferry 7.30 if you want to eat, 8ish if you don't. I'm not interested in all the technical stuff, so I'm sure you'll get better info/opinions from some of the other blokes??

Hope to see you there.
Kim
