Wheel Refurbishment

Hi All

I'm going to need to get my alloys refurbished at some point, but since the 968 is my only car I'm going to need to figure out how to drive it with no wheels or find some slave wheels & tyres in the short term. It runs on 17" Design 93 Cups (at least I think that's what they are) but I'm guessing 16" wheels might be easier to get hold of. Would that be OK in the short term and does anyone know of a refurbishing outfit the loans slave wheels? Sounds unlikely to me....

Cheers

James

I just had my 18" turbo alloys refurbed by Wicked Wheels at High Wycombe. This wasn't a full refurbishment, in that they didn't do the inside of the wheels. They clean up the wheels inside and out, repair the damage to the rims, and spray and lacquer the outside faces. Granted, it isn't as complete as stripping the wheels and starting from scratch like they do in a full refurb, but I am delighted with the result. They can do it on site, but they collected my car in the morning, took it to their workshop in Loudwater, and returned it to me the same afternoon. The cost was £220+VAT. I got a couple of prices for a full refurbishment, but they were closer to twice the price and I would have been without the car for 3-4 days. The chap's name is Gary, and his phone number is 07867 544710. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

There are a couple of other recommendations here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=230703

Thanks Richard that's very helpful, much appreciated.

It's a full wheel refurb that I need because the insides of the wheels are in a bad way. Having said that, a new clutch is looking slightly more pressing.....

Hi James

I can recommend Specialised Paintwork who also offer 10% off for PCGB members. They will refurb your wheels to a high standard inside and out!

..they did Simon's Design 90's on his 928. He just drove down there and left the car with them and they did the rest!

..your only problem is how do you get to work? ..borrow the other halfs car?[:D]

Cheers J.
