Wheel Refurbishment

Can someone recommend a wheel refurbisher in the West Midlands? I'm not looking for someone to touch up a few scratches but a proper refurbisher that will strip all the paint away and repaint the wheels to get them looking like new.

Thanks in advance.

Best of luck with this, I have tried and failed to find anywhere.

I booked my car in here;
http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/?adw&gclid=CJ2-xoCf25ECFQ5HQwodzhdxeA

but when I got there discovered that their standard finishes were grey (standard silver they call it) or black - nothing close to the Porsche silver. They were going to be able to do "Porsche Silver", but weren't able to yet (this was earlier in the Spring)- would cost 500 quid for the 4 wheels and would take a week rather than a day (which actually is as long as it should take to do a good job).

There's a company in Milton Keynes, whose name presently escapes, me with a good reputation (I seem to recall one of the Registers have done a visit to them). They also do an exchange wheel scheme by which they sort you out with a spare set of wheels whilst they do yours. I couldn't get a response to an email from them though, and when I do get around to getting my wheels done I'm tempted to do what everyone says you shouldn't, and just get a cosmetic job done that may last a couple years.

As you can tell I got more than a little fed up with the whole fruitless process - hope you have better luck and let me know if you end up with a recommendation.

Reynolds of Rushock (no afil etc) http://www.reynoldsofrushock.co.uk/ do wheel refurb, and are Porsche approved. Chris often hosts a club visit for R13, see RO John Lord and he will tell you if he is planning one for this year.
I keep intending to find time to get mine done, but with only one set of wheels I keep delaying. If you get yours done please post any results that you have before and after shots.
Cheers and good luck.

The company near Milton Keynes (actually Woburn Sands) is Pristine Wheel Refurbishers. Tel: 01908 282628. The 964 Register had a factory tour there a couple of months ago and their operation is really impressive. They handle something like 3000 wheels a month and have facilities to strip and prepare the wheels prior to your selected finish. They can do a "Porsche" finish using the exact paint which Porsche themselves use although there is a small price premium over their standard "Pristine" silver.

If you call them try to talk to Russell. He's the Works Manager there and is extremely helpful. What he won't do is give you a price over the phone before he sees the wheels. I had some Ruf 18" Speedlines done recently in Porsche silver with diamond cut rims. One wheel had a significant curb clout and Russell quoted £20 for the repair and £72 each for the refurbish (all + VAT of course). On collection they only charged £10 for the repair and the finish was excellent.

There are many PCGB member on here who have had wheels done at Pristine and I don't recall any who have complained about the outcome. They will normally take 3-4 days and will dismount/remount tyres if necessary (they will charge) and are able to keep a car securly stored without wheels if you prefer to leave it with them.

I have no affiliation with Pristine - just a belief that they do a suberb job and are as honest as the day is long.

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I phoned Pristine in Woburn Sands today. They have a couple of agents in the West Midlands. One in Sutton Coldfield and the other in Knowle (Plume tyres). Apparently the agents will remove the tyres from the rims and arrange for them to be couriered to Pristine in Woburn Sands. They also operate the wheel exchange scheme.

I think I will give them a go in the near future.

I've heard Pristine are excellent, if you check the 964RS forum there is a photo of their work on a 964RS mag rim. I've just had one of my Mags refurbished at Diamond Styling, as they were recommended by the 964RS registrar, again the results were first class, and they did my wheel in 3 days.Only draw back they are in Kent.......
